Flight School

Applications for the OddBird Craft Fair Mentorship Program are open now until June 26th!

About the Program

The OddBird Flight School (Mentorship) aims to help one emerging Edmonton-based artist learn how to prepare to vend at an event like OddBird Art & Craft Fair. One applicant will receive up to 10 hours of mentorship from OddBird organizers between July and October at no cost.

Mentorship will focus on helping the applicant prepare to sell their work at an event like OddBird. Meetings will be held online and may take place on evenings or weekends.

The chosen applicant may be offered a 3' or 4' table for one weekend at the upcoming OddBird Winter Fair (Nov. 28-30 or Dec. 5-7) at no cost. This isn't guaranteed – it'll depend on our assessment of your preparedness – but we'll do our very best to get you ready, if you're interested! If you would prefer not to vend this Winter but would like to receive mentorship, you're still welcome to apply for the program.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are 18 years of age or older

  • Are living full-time in Edmonton

  • Have an active art practice

  • Are interesting in, but fairly new to, selling at art fairs like OddBird
(i.e., you’ve been selling for 2ish years or less; total newbies welcome!)

  • Have not vended at OddBird before

Application Evaluation

Applications will be reviewed by OddBird organizers on the basis of:
1. The above eligibility requirements, and
2. Our standard OddBird evaluation criteria (available here – please read carefully and get in touch if you have questions!).

An applicant must meet the above criteria in order to be considered for the program.

The Fine Print

  • Acceptance to the program is conditional on the suitability of an applicant's work for OddBird, as assessed by OddBird organizers.

  • Acceptance to the Winter Fair emerging artist table is conditional on the successful applicant's readiness to vend, as assessed by OddBird organizers by September 15, 2025.

  • This program has no cash value. Participation in the program cannot be deferred or transferred, except at the discretion of OddBird organizers.
